The Violence of Crypto Crime
Growing up in France, I watched crypto crime evolve from digital theft into something far more visceral. It isn't just about smart contract exploits anymore. In Paris, we've seen a disturbing rise in physical crypto robberies.
Attackers aren't just looking for bugs in Solidity code. They are profiling individuals, mapping their social circles, and striking when the target is most vulnerable. I've witnessed the devastating impact of cybercrime firsthand—families targeted, savings drained, and the psychological toll of knowing you were watched.
"Security isn't just about protecting assets. It's about protecting the people behind them."
Born into Security
My father works in cybersecurity. While other kids were learning to ride bikes, I was learning about threat vectors and operational security. This isn't a hobby for me; it's a discipline I've been absorbing my entire life.
But I realized that traditional security tools were missing something. They treat users like specialized operators. The reality is that even the smartest engineers fall for social engineering.
Why Game Design Matters
Instead of taking a traditional gap year, I scrutinized the intersection of Game Design and Gamification for a year before continuing my Computer Science MSc.
Why? Because attackers use gamification against us. They exploit our psychology, our dopamine loops, and our trust reflexes. To defeat them, we need to understand these systems better than they do.
Descry is the result of that convergence: rigid cybersecurity principles fused with an understanding of human behavior.
